Nessco Pressure Systems (NPS) has developed what it says is one of the first portable testing systems built in Western Australia. Commissioned by APTS, the containerised pressure relief valve test bench is suitable for use in the oil and gas industry.

Capable of testing valves up to pressures of 10,000 psi hydrostatically, or with nitrogen gas, the container has been designed to comply with ATEX and Zone 2 fire and explosion specifications and is DNV rated for oil and gas platforms.

“The container can be 100% custom engineered to meet client requirements and specifications - supplying an efficient and mobile service to the oil and gas industry that can be transported directly to on-site platforms for valve testing and certification. The system was supplied as a total turnkey project by Nessco Pressure Systems,” said NPS National Business Development Manager Louis Botes.

The test bench is equipped with a 100-tonne clamping fixture, allowing valves to be secured efficiently and easily. The facility also contains an internally mounted jib crane with a lifting capacity of up to 500 kg and an externally recessed bulkhead through which compressed air, nitrogen and electrical utilities can be connected.

“Our long-term relationship with NPS and their commitment to quality and after sales service gave us the peace of mind when investing in this innovative solution to on-site PSV testing,” said APTS General Manager Kevin Wilson. “This unit will enable APTS to mobilise to any site, including offshore oil rigs, anywhere in the world to conduct testing and servicing of PSVs within a self-sufficient mobile lab, reducing the need for additional equipment and providing a much more efficient and quality service to our clients.”
