An updated version of the Wolverine DDW-120 ethernet SHDSL extender with increased data rate is now available. The DDW-120, enhanced for industrial applications, can be used to establish reliable long-distance, high-speed remote connections between simple and complex ethernet networks using any existing twisted pair copper cables.

With managed switching/routing functionality, and enhanced point-to-point extender, the latest version of the extender enables data transmission rates up to 15.3 Mbps in both directions, and transmission distances of over 10 km, depending on cable quality.

This increased data transmission rate is designed to help meet the increasing demands for bandwidth from applications, such as transmitting high-definition video from remote sites.

Designed to be transparent for multicast addressing, the DDW-120 is suitable for VLAN networks and allows VPN pass-through for IPSec.

The DDW-120 is claimed to be simple to install, with no software configuration required. When long or poor cabling is used the settings can be adjusted via DIP switches for optimised performance. The unit is also supplied with a diagnostic utility that allows the installer to analyse the quality of the line and the connection status.

The enhanced SHDSL extender is suitable for tough industrial environments. The line interface is also equipped with extensive protection against over-voltages and transients.
