Siemens has expanded its Scalance X-300 series of managed industrial ethernet switches with a product line for use in energy automation.
The Scalance X-300EEC (Enhanced Environmental Conditions), with IP30 degree of protection, is suitable for extremely harsh industrial environments, as well as communication between switching and protection devices in low-voltage and high-voltage switchgear. The switches are EMC-approved in accordance with the IEC standard 61850-3, as necessary for this area of application.
The Scalance X-300EEC product line consists of compact devices and a modular 19-inch rack unit. There are versions with redundant wide-range power supplies to meet high availability demands, and with special coatings for heavy ambient air pollution.
Depending on the version, the devices feature 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports and 100/1000 Mb/s FOC ports with different numbers of interfaces.
All versions support time synchronisation with microsecond accuracy in accordance with the IEEE 1588 V2 standard.
