Hirschmann Industrial Ethernet has released a 10-port switch in the IP67-rated Octopus family of networking devices.

The switch features Gigabit fibre uplink ports (1000Base-FX) and eight twisted pair (100Base-TX) ports with 4-pin M12-D connectors.

The switch includes fast-recovery (50 ms) HiPER-Ring ring redundancy, as well as RSTP for compatibility with existing networks. Filtering, flow control and prioritisation on a per-port basis provide traffic shaping to optimise network performance. SSH is available to provide login security.

The switches of the Octopus family are designed for an operating temperature range of -40 to +70 °C. They are suited to OEMs and for retrofitting to machinery needing ethernet appliances such as IP Video, drives or on-machine displays.
