PROFIBUS group develops uniform device integration
The PROFIBUS User Organization (PNO) has announced it is drawing up a first draft of a uniform solution for device integration that is fully compatible with both EDDL and FDT technologies.
Developed as part of the Field Device Integration (FDI) project, the use cases for the solution have been completed and the requirements are defined.
The validation of the use cases was made in close consultation with NAMUR (the interest group for automation technology of the process industry), the WIB (International Instrument Users' Association) as well as the AIDA (Automation Initiative of German Domestic Automobile Manufacturers).
Currently, the architecture and the technical specifications are being developed. A first draft of these specifications will be completed by December 2008; the final technical specifications are to be released by the end of 2009.
