Industrial telecommunication products are key components within remote control and maintenance solutions. Internet and VPN based solutions therefore replace modem dial-up connections and pose new challenges for products: the transmission of large amounts of data, high transmission speeds and protection against unauthorised access must also be guaranteed.

The mGuard security routers from Phoenix Contact with integrated mobile phone network interface make industrial communication over mobile phone networks more secure, through integrated security technologies such as VPN and a built-in firewall. American CDMA mobile phone networks are also now supported in addition to UMTS/HASPA.

The products have a robust metal housing, two SIM card slots and a GPS receiver, and support 2 or 10 VPN tunnels, depending on the model. In addition, the new devices offer an integrated 4-port switch - either managed or unmanaged, depending on model. SD memory cards are supported and can function as a replaceable configuration memory for fast start-up and easy device replacement.
