The Trunkguard Series 200 fieldbus device couplers (TG200) from MooreHawke allow for the fast and easy enabling of fieldbus systems by connecting devices to a main fieldbus trunk in a Foundation fieldbus or Profibus PA network.

The series uses MooreHawke’s Automatic Segment Termination feature to eliminate the common installation error of segment failure from over-termination or under-termination. It detects if a device coupler is the last fieldbus junction in the segment and either terminates the segment or allows it go to the downstream device coupler.

The series also provides short-circuit protection through the use of a ‘fold-back’ technique to disconnect a shorted instrument from the fieldbus segment to prevent complete segment failure. A logic circuit on each spur detects a short in the instrument, disconnects the spur from the segment and signals a warning to personnel.
