The OsiSense ultrasonic sensor uses a piezoelectric transducer that acts as both transmitter and receiver and can detect any object without contact, regardless of the material, nature, colour or degree of transparency.
The transducer generates a pulsed ultrasonic wave that travels through the air at the speed of sound. When the wave strikes an object, it is reflected and the propagation time is calculated by a microprocessor that also controls the output states.
The sensor can detect objects up to 8 m away. Its small format makes it suitable for places such as water tanks or silos where mounting space is restricted but long-sensing distances are still needed.
The OsiSense ultrasonic sensor range (up to IP67) can detect anything from the position of machine parts to the different levels of paints in pots. It is highly resistant to food products and chemical agents, making it suitable to use in an industrial environment. Industries like food and beverage, mining, water and wastewater, aviation, automotive, and pulp and paper could also benefit.
