Turck CFRP inductive sensors for carbon fibre

Tuesday, 08 March, 2022 | Supplied by: Turck Australia Pty Ltd

Turck has developed inductive sensors for detecting carbon fibres. The sensor series detects both carbon fibres as well as pressed CFRP parts. It is based on Turck’s uprox technology that allows large switching distances as well as maximum mounting flexibility, which makes the products suitable for manufacturers of automobile parts, wind turbines or sports equipment and their suppliers.

Compared to the previously used solutions in this area, the sensors are said to offer a number benefits. They are less sensitive to contamination than optical or capacitive sensors, with IP68 protection and an extended temperature range of 0 to 100°C.

The CFRP sensors have PNP changeover contacts and M12 connectors. They are available in three designs: as a threaded-barrel design in an M18 stainless steel housing as well as 20 mm (QR20) or 40 mm (CK40) rectangular variants.
