Shaft encoders with additional ethernet protocols

Fraba/Posital, represented by PCA in Australasia, has extended the range of ethernet protocols supported in its family of absolute shaft encoders, allowing these products to operate on normal computer network systems.

The protocols now available are Ethernet/IP, Modbus/TCP, Profinet IO and Ethernet Powerlink V1 and V2. Encoder housings are available with either solid or hollow shaft connections and construction materials can be either aluminium or stainless steel.

Total resolution can be as high as 30 bits for a multi turn encoder and 16 bits for a single turn encoder; as well as the normal positional information, the user can also receive velocity and direction readings. Programmable set points are also available.
