SEW-Eurodrive CMP servomotors

SEW-Eurodrive’s CMP family of servomotors now offers torque ratings of 0.5 to 45 Nm, and is available in six frame sizes with speed ratings of 3000, 4500 and 6000 rpm.

These higher-torque models of the extended CMP range can be provided with a choice of two brake torques, and two rotor inertias. SEW-Eurodrive recommends a 10:1 ratio between the motor inertia and the load inertia to optimise stability and motor control. Having the choice of two rotor inertias for each model is intended to allow for optimal matching of the servo to the manufacturing application.

The design of the CMP range has resulted in a low-weight compact unit, with high-torque density. The CMP servo range also offers a high ‘four times rated torque’ overload capacity, and cogging levels minimised to below 2%. The CMP servos retain emitted sound levels to between 55 and 75 dBA at all speeds.

The extended CMP servo series is provided with industry-standard round ‘canon’ plug connectors (both for power and resolver/encoder connections) to increase equipment compatibility and to ensure speedy on-site installation and servicing when combined with pre-manufactured cable assemblies.

A wide range of options is available with the CMP servo. The standard robust resolver can be upgraded by a precision ‘Hiperface’ absolute encoder, and the standard connector can be replaced on request with a terminal box. Further options include a choice of forced-cooling fans, and a square flange alternative to allow for direct machine mounting.
