The FZ3-900 series vision system provides a dual CPU colour vision sensor that is designed to make it possible to achieve high-speed multiline inspection with one controller. The system has a high dynamic range, a 5 megapixel camera and true colour resolution through Omron’s Advanced Real Colour Sensing (ARCS) engine, which can capture and process 16.77 million colours.

The FZ3-900 series includes a built-in LCD touch screen to reduce panel space, and where images and tool sets are presented for drag-and-drop set-up. The online editing functions allow changes to be made without stopping the process line, to minimise unnecessary rejections in production. Embedded simulation software allows trial measurements to be performed on a computer using prepared images. Settings, start-up and adjustments can be verified in advance without requiring the controller.

Multiline inspection systems are possible with the one controller because the Dual Mega ARCS Engines configuration allows one controller to accept two trigger inputs simultaneously or randomly process two different set-ups independently.

Complete parallel processing of measurement and logging means it can also be connected to high-speed, large-capacity hard disk drives (up to 2 TB), making it possible to save all images on high-speed lines.
