ATI Industrial Automation has released a networkforce/torque (Net F/T) sensor system. The Net F/T system measures six components of force and torque (Fx, Fy, Fz, Tx, Ty, Tz) and provides an ethernet /IP and CANbus communication interface and is compatible with standard ethernet. The Net F/T system is available with all of ATI’s force/torque transducer models.

Product features include a fully ODVA-compliant EtherNet/IP interface. The Net F/T interface (Net Box) is sealed to IP65 (water splash-proof) and the Net F/T transducer and cable can be sealed to IP68 (submergibility in fresh water, to a depth of 10 m). The system is powered by Power over Ethernet (PoE) or by an external power supply (11 to 24 VDC).

Multiple transducer calibrations can be permanently stored in the system and can be selected by the user. Product advantages include output rates of up to 7000 Hz for six axes of measurement over ethernet (using UDP); configuration via a web interface, allowing the user to view and change system settings using a web browser; and programmable thresholds.

The Net F/T also features built-in status indicators, overload protection, tool transformations, temperature compensation and a high signal-to-noise ratio.
