Electric cylinder actuator

Presenting a high-performance alternative to pneumatic and hydraulic actuating cylinders, SEW-Eurodrive's CMS electric cylinder series provides accurate linear positioning for a wide range of single-plane motion applications.

Comprising four different models, the CMS series features a synchronous servomotor with integrated ball screw drive to generate linear motion, delivering a peak feed force of 20,000 N at a maximum speed of 500 mm/s. With a stroke length of up to 350 mm, the series is designed for applications where short, accurate linear strokes are required, such as those involving a pushing, clamping or pressing action.

The series permits precise piston positioning and steady acceleration and speed profiles. Along with scalable feed force capabilities, these features make the series suitable for applications that require high levels of accuracy and flexibility.

The series is easily integrated into plant-wide control system architectures, simplifying process automation. Piston position and frequency of movement can be programmed and controlled via a servomotor controller, such as the Movidrive 'B' application inverter. This allows users to define motion sequences and adjust electric cylinder travel and performance parameters electrically, rather than interrupting the application.

Inherently energy saving, low maintenance and low noise, the CMS electric cylinder series is available with additional options such as electric holding brake and absolute feedback system configurations. A variety of mounting and spindle-pitch alternatives are also available.
