Distance sensor

Wednesday, 01 April, 2009 | Supplied by: SICK Pty Ltd

The DT50 series measuring and switching distance sensors have been designed for medium ranges of up to 10 m. They exhibit a 20 ms response time, 1 mm resolution and 10 mm accuracy.

The device has a rugged design with an IP65 zinc die-cast housing, an exchangeable protective front screen for welding applications and an operating temperature range of -30 to +65 °C. The device is also immune to ambient light up to 40 klx due to the double frequency coding.

The DT50 is capable of solving numerous tasks efficiently. These include positioning functions, as well as presence and occupancy inspections in automatic storage systems, or monitoring distance on Telpher conveyors and collision prevention for gantry cranes and automated guided vehicles. The DT50 can also be used to solve interesting applications in production and process technology, such as regulating slack during tyre production, positioning welding robots, or on packaging machines and roller printing plants.
