ABB IRB 360 FlexPicker with increased payload

Thursday, 04 July, 2013 | Supplied by: ABB Australia Pty Ltd

ABB has increased the IRB 360 FlexPicker’s top payload from 3 to 8 kg. Optimised for both picking and packing applications, the robot can now pick up heavier items, handling up to 100 cycles per minute. Its average throughput capacity has also been improved.

The robot’s 1130 mm working range has been optimised for packing and has the smallest footprint of all delta robots handling more than 3 kg. Advanced motion control simplifies the frame design, and the tool flange has been re-engineered to accommodate larger grippers. These larger and heavier grippers make the robot able to handle flow-wrapped products, giving the FlexPicker the ability to pick up as many as 500 products per minute directly from an indexing belt. Finally, a new mounting interface has been added to the robot’s moving plate.

The upgrade improves upon the IRB 360 FlexPicker’s other existing features, such as a hygienic design for wash-down applications, high tracking performance and integrated control of indexing belts.
