Advantech APAX-5202P motion master module

Advantech has launched its APAX-5202P motion master module to leverage the benefits of the new APAX PAC series, as well as expanding its line to motion control applications.

APAX-5202P is compatible with the APAX-5570 and APAX-5571 PAC controllers to provide an AMONet motion control solution in various motion control applications. Users can choose Advantech’s AMONet slave modules, AMAX-2240 series and AMAX-2750SY series. The former is a 4-axis AMONet motion slave module for Panasonic, Mitsubishi and Yaskawa servomotors, the latter is a 32-channel isolated digital I/O slave module. The APAX-5202P master collects information from slave modules and publishes the information to its PAC controller.

The APAX-5202P PCI interface card supports two independent AMONet RS485 master rings and provides an LED diagnostic display. One APAX-5202P module can support a maximum of 128 AMONet RS485 slave modules, meaning that each ring can control up to 2048 I/O points, 256 axes or a combination of I/O points and axes for motion control. Using a daisy-chain network configuration, each ring supports a transfer rate of up to 20 Mbps over a maximum distance of 100 m. The communication between master and slave is based on a customised RS485 solution that saves wires, covers a long distance, supports high-speed communication and has time-deterministic features. The communication interface between master and PAC is accomplished by memory mapping.
