Shaft seals reduce dryer cycle times

MECO custom-engineered shaft seals have been proven to reduce vacuum dryer cycle times by up to 50% by effectively holding the vacuum.

MECO seals are custom-designed and manufactured to fit individual applications. In dryer applications, the company's Mechanical Drive system is frequently used to accommodate the significant thermal shaft growth and pressure-vacuum cycles common in this equipment.

The company incorporates 6 mm or more of total runout/misalignment capacity into all of its seal designs. Seals will also accommodate significant radial shock loads.

The seals are available fully-split for quick installation, without disturbing the bearing or drive assembly. Air- or gas-purged seal models have low purge flow rates (often 7 ± 7 litres per minute) and can continue functioning in events of unforeseen loss of air flow.

The seal face pressures are user-adjustable through a simple mechanism. Unlike traditional mechanical seals, the seal faces are soft, fault-tolerant and almost impossible to break.

MECO custom shaft seals are distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Eagle Burgmann Australia and New Zealand.
