SBS Technologies has introduced the PC7 rugged, an all-in-one industrial computer housed in a compact EMI-protected metal enclosure that is dust and water resistant.

The computer is designed for machine control, data acquisition and processing, communication and other embedded applications used in industries that expose electronics to harsh environmental conditions.

The enclosure is designed to be dustproof and withstand water from high pressure water jets, meaning the unit can be hosed down if necessary.

It has been designed for applications where integrators need IP65 and NEMA compliant equipment. The PC7 rugged is available in extended temperature versions for operating environments from -40 to +50°C.

The computer offers an array of peripheral interfaces, in-cluding a video interface Fast-Ethernet and a local hard drive or flash drive. It also features a PCI bus, two USB ports, a CANbus and three PC/104+ expansion slots to enable custom extensions such as Inter-bus-S, Profibus and DeviceNet peripherals. It runs on the Embedded NT, Windows 2000/NT/XP, QNX, VxWorks or Linux operating systems.
