Pepperl+Fuchs VisuNet HMI systems with integrated RFID authentication provide a secure and compliant access solution for pharmaceutical and chemical production environments. As regulatory requirements under frameworks such as the Cyber Resilience Act, EU GMP Annex 11 and IEC 62443 continue to tighten, operators must move beyond password-only access towards clearly traceable, role-based and multi-factor authentication methods.

The VisuNet GXP and VisuNet FLX operator workstations enable fast, reliable login directly at the point of operation using optional integrated RFID readers. Employees can authenticate using their factory ID card, ensuring unique user identification and eliminating shared credentials. Built on the Pepperl+Fuchs RFID20 module, the system supports common standards including Mifare and Legic, and integrates seamlessly with established authentication platforms such as Siemens PM-Logon, Obion LogOnPlus and the Nymi Connected Worker Platform.

Certified for hazardous areas, the VisuNet FLX is approved for Zone 2/22 and Division 2, while the VisuNet GXP supports Zone 1/21 applications. Authentication can be scaled to meet higher security levels through two-factor or multi-factor verification, combining RFID with PIN, password or biometric identification such as the Nymi Band. With VisuNet RM Shell firmware and VisuNet Control Center software, devices can be centrally configured, updated and managed, including integration into Active Directory domains for controlled access via group policies. The result is a streamlined, future-ready HMI solution that strengthens cybersecurity, simplifies compliance, and supports data integrity in GMP-regulated processes.
