Australian compressed-air specialist, Champion Compressors has officially unveiled its new headquarters and manufacturing facility in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburb of Dandenong.

At the opening ceremony, Victoria’s Minister for Industry and Trade, Martin Pakula, presented Champion Compressors with a commemorative plaque to recognise the company’s ongoing commitment to Victoria’s manufacturing sector.

Pakula used Champion Compressors' success as an example of how local manufacturers could succeed in spite of challenging global conditions.

“Champion has built on its niche expertise in catering for the harsh environments encountered in Australia to achieve domestic leadership and expand into global markets," he said.

"At the same time, the company has maintained its focus on quality, investing heavily in R&D and introducing state-of-the-art industrial processes and practices, as exemplified by this new facility.”

Pakula said the state government recognised the central importance of manufacturing to the economy and was committed to helping local businesses respond successfully to current challenges.

The new headquarters will allow Champion to triple its manufacturing capacity, increase its technical support office space three-fold and quadruple its loading and parking facilities.
