Siemens and IBM team up on next generation of cloud-based building energy management solutions

Siemens Buildings Technologies Division and IBM have announced cloud-based solutions that will leverage Siemens’ building expertise and IBM Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities to maximise the potential of connected buildings and the data they create, helping corporate real estate owners across multiple industries drive business results and meet energy-efficiency goals.

Building intelligence is evolving through emerging technologies in cloud computing, data analytics and intelligent field devices — effectively merging the virtual and real worlds within the built environment. This shift provides an opportunity to transform real estate assets into active contributors to business success. The solution addresses this opportunity by delivering greater transparency and flexibility to support the decision-making process while creating greater efficiency and cost savings to help impact the bottom line.

“Intelligent infrastructure is at the core of our Building Technologies business at Siemens in Australia,” said Stefan Schwab, executive general manager Building Technologies, Siemens Australia. “We have been the partner of choice for iconic buildings including One Central Park in Sydney, the MCG in Melbourne and Robina Hospital in Gold Coast, helping them create more sustainable and energy-efficient infrastructure. This relationship with IBM will enable us to leverage smart data and cloud computing to maximise the potential of digitally connected buildings that helps Australian industries lower the cost of ownership and meet energy-efficiency goals.”
