Siemens acquisition expands its industrial software portfolio
Siemens has acquired VRcontext International for an undisclosed sum, expanding its industrial software portfolio. The company announced the acquisition at the Digital Plant Congress in Würzburg, Germany.
VRcontext is best known for its Walkinside product family. It is popular within the plant construction and ship-building industries due to its high-quality display of complex engineering data.

Walkinside 3D visualisation software is used by more than 200 companies in plant operation, maintenance and servicing in over 30 countries. The software directly accesses all plant information to display the current status of a plant in realistic 3D graphics.
“The integration of the Walkinside 3D software into our industrial software portfolio will benefit our customers significantly,” said Siemens Global Industrial Automation CEO Eckard Eberle. “Using intelligent 3D models can make plant engineering and operation safer and more efficient in a great many sectors of industry.”
