Pilz Australia announces new MD

Twain Drewett was appointed to the position of managing director of Pilz Australia and New Zealand on 1 January 2018, following the untimely passing of previous managing director Scott Moffat. His appointment follows an extensive search for the right person to fill this vital role.

The majority of Drewett’s 20-year professional career has been spent in the information solutions, automation and the electrical controls business. His broad-ranging contributions include driving client satisfaction through the forging of deep partnerships; superior business management; and excellence in product, project and aftermarket service delivery. His key focus is to increase Pilz’s value proposition to existing and new customers through the careful application of its broad product and services portfolio, thereby assisting customers to significantly improve productivity and safety within their facilities.

Pilz’s solutions support digital business models and the implementation of Industry 4.0 — from open networks and modern operator visualisation to distributed PLCs and safety controllers, intelligent sensors, modular drive technology and safe human-robot collaboration systems, including ‘all-in-one safety and automation’.

The services Pilz provides were developed to help customers achieve their productivity and safety goals, and include automation and safety system consulting, design, engineering, system integration, after-sales support and training — with the certified machine safety expert (CMSE) program often booked out months in advance.

In addition, Drewett places an emphasis on working closely with system integrators and distributors in order to deliver solutions to customers that are based on a true understanding of the opportunities and threats facing a particular business and industry today. He believes that Pilz has a strategic role to play in helping companies to optimise productivity throughout their total operations through the application of well-designed digital plant automation and safety systems.
