Olympus enhances its portable X-ray analyser capabilities across Australia

Geochemical analysis of minerals by portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) and X-ray diffraction (pXRD) is a crucial tool in the mineral exploration and mining industries. Olympus Australia has announced that, to enhance the support and distribution of its analysers into this market, REFLEX is now its official representative for pXRF and pXRD mining analysers in Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory.

pXRF and pXRD analysers provide fast, real-time, non-destructive qualitative and quantitative characterisation of materials, with Olympus said to be at the forefront of the development of these analysis technologies. REFLEX is meanwhile known for its leading real-time, sub-surface, intelligence solutions for the minerals industry.

“This agreement formalises the good relationship between the two companies,” said Andrew Taylor, IBD industrial and mining regional sales manager with Olympus. “REFLEX is well recognised as a trusted brand in the resources sector, so this agreement will allow us to broaden the distribution of our geochemical analysers in this space.”

Through a longstanding association the two companies recognised synergies in their technologies for common clients and goals, so making the formal agreement was the logical next step. Being an authorised representative permits REFLEX to sell the Olympus pXRF and pXRD analyser solutions both individually and as an integral part of their real-time, sub-surface, intelligence solutions for the minerals market.

Olympus’ DELTA and TERRA ranges are said to contain some of the most advanced handheld and portable XRF and XRD analysers available today. “These models have been developed for those customers who require speed, reliability, precision and ease of operation, all in a field-portable package,” said Taylor.

The optional addition of REFLEX Command software and communication, with their secure, cloud based data platform (REFLEX IQ-HUB), means significant operational advantages can be achieved by companies in the resources industry. The combination enables real-time access to quantitative geochemical data for immediate and decisive action. On-site analysis and the opportunity to access this information anywhere, anytime is essential for mining and exploration companies for keeping costs down and minimising delays.

“This allows us to leverage our broad base of existing customers with the extended solution set,” said Steve Budiselic, REFLEX regional manager — Asia Pacific. “We already have well established service capability in the region, so customers are assured of excellent service and support from the outset.”
