Northern Sewerage Project named as ACAA finalist
Yarra Valley Water has been named as a finalist in the Australian Construction Achievement Awards (ACAA) for its Northern Sewerage Project, one of the largest wastewater tunnelling projects in Australia.
The project sees the development of fully commissioned new sewers to provide for 70,000 new homes across North Melbourne. Overcoming challenging geology and complex site conditions in a dense urban environment, the $650 million project involved construction of 12.5 km of sewer tunnels.
“The Australian Construction Achievement Awards recognise Australia’s elite construction projects. The projects are delivered by some of Australia’s top construction companies and their highly skilled teams comprising engineering professionals,” said Lindsay Le Compte, Executive Director of the Australian Constructors Association.
“Engineering professionals are in high demand across Australia’s construction industry due to their proven expertise in leading world-class construction projects around the world. The ACAA celebrates the accomplishments of the construction industry with the engineering profession.”
The Australian Construction Achievement Awards are presented by Engineers Australia and the Australian Constructors Association. The overall winner will be announced at the ACAA 2013 dinner on 16 May 2013.
