Nominations open for Sydney Engineering Individual Excellence Awards
Nominations are now open for the Sydney Engineering Individual Excellence Awards. Engineers Australia is calling for nominations for the category of Young Professional Engineer.
“The excellence awards are a pinnacle program, rewarding members of the community who stand out and lead the industry by example at all levels,” said Dr Bronwyn Evans, CEO of Standards Australia and winner of the title Professional Engineer of the Year 2013.
“The need for inspirational leadership has always existed, but what has changed with time is the scrutiny of what makes a good leader. For the engineering industry today it is clear that while strong technical leadership is highly valued and respected, it needs to be coupled with good communication skills, political and financial acumen, and the ability to bring out the best in everyone in the organisation and further, the community. The excellence awards highlight this ultimate combination of skills.
“I encourage people to nominate others or themselves, and for the wider community to join the association in recognising the engineering industry’s leaders.”
Other award categories include:
- Professional Engineer
- Entrepreneur
- Engineering Associate
- Engineering Technologist
Nominations - including self-nominations - close on 5 June 2014. To nominate or enter, visit www.engineersaustralia.org.au/sydeea.
The winners will be announced on 19 September 2014. Tickets to the event will be on sale soon.
