With membership recently exceeding 1000, the Mechatrolink Members Association (MMA) is now the largest motion-control networking group in Asia.
The company said memberships from China, Korea, Taiwan and Japan have been increasing rapidly. Currently, 42% of members are Japanese companies, 26% are Chinese, 20% are Korean, 6% are European and 6% are American. In March 2012, the MMA’s membership consisted of 1015 companies in total.
Established in 2005 to promote the open motion network Mechatrolink, the MMA began with 124 member companies. Within is first 6½ years, 900 companies joined the MMA, with 115 more joining in the last year alone.
The MMA General Secretary Takeshi Tanaka visited Beijing in May to welcome the MMA’s 1000th member, a CNC controller manufacturer.
The MMA says it expects to reach 2000 members by the end of 2014.
