MCi Carbon and Hatch partner on mineral carbonation commercialisation
MCi Carbon has announced a collaboration with Hatch to support the engineering, assessment and commercial deployment for MCi’s mineral carbonation technology.
Engineering, project delivery and consulting firm Hatch will support MCi in the development of commercial-scale mineral carbonation projects, including feasibility studies, engineering, plant development and project delivery planning.
MCi Carbon’s technology uses mineral carbonation to permanently bind CO2 into solid materials, producing low-carbon materials for use in industrial and construction supply chains. The MCi Carbon/Hatch collaboration is intended to support the development of robust, scalable and commercially deployable project pathways for this technology.
“Design has started on our first commercial plants. Hatch’s engineering expertise strengthens our ability to roll out this technology globally, and this partnership positions us to turn our pipeline of customer opportunities into delivered projects,” said Marcus Dawe, MCi Carbon CEO.
MCi Carbon says it continues to advance on multiple fronts. Myrtle, its multi-feedstock, multi-product mineral carbonation platform, is operating at TRL 7 on Kooragang Island, Newcastle, proving that mineral carbonation works at demonstration scale, and giving customers a proven pathway to validate the technology without needing to build their own demonstration plant.
