Macnaught Australia, a lubrication equipment manufacturer, has just invested more than $1.2 million on advanced technology CNC (computer numerically controlled) machining centres at its Sydney manufacturing complex.

This follows the construction of an in-house, climate-controlled quality inspection laboratory with a computerised inspection machine capable of measuring to an accuracy of just a few microns (0.001 mm).

“Our new equipment incorporates the latest technology with positioning accuracy ±0.002 mm and repeatability ±0.001 mm,” CEO Peter Macnaught said.

“These machine tools are capable of completing a component in as few as one or two operations.

“The key to ensuring a high standard of quality is to minimise the number of times the part is handled during the machining process.

Macnaught adds that the latest production improvements will assist the company to keep its prices competitive despite the present difficult economic conditions.
