Japanese ceremony marks opening of Yokogawa WA office
The Western Australian arm of Yokogawa Australia has opened its new Perth office at Belmont.
Attending the opening on 14 September 2010 were President and CEO of Yokogawa Electric Corporation, Japan, Shuzo Kaihori; Singapore-based President of Yokogawa Engineering Asia, Satoru Kurosu; and Managing Director of Yokogawa Australia and New Zealand, John Hewitt. The ceremony was also honoured by the presence of Japan’s Consul General, Torao Sato, and included a traditional Kagami Biraki Sake Ceremony, complete with a wooden cask of sake and ceremonial robes.
Yokogawa designs, manufactures and installs instrumentation and process control systems used widely in the oil and gas, mining, power generation, environmental protection, civil engineering, chemical and manufacturing industries.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Yokogawa President Shuzo Kaihori said that as a result of the success of its customers and demand for the company’s CENTUM DCS, SCADA, PLC systems, Yokogawa had outgrown its original premises established in 1989. The modern new facilities at Belmont feature 50% more space for customer training.
“Western Australia is an exciting place at the moment and we are delighted to be involved in its success through our activities in the areas of measurement, control, and information,” Kaihori said.
“We believe that the opening of these new facilities in Perth will increase our ability to service our customers’ growing needs, and as an indication of our intent to continue investing in Western Australia.”
