FDT2 Frame application now available for shipment
FDT Group has announced that the first FDT2 Frame application is available for immediate shipment. The dftContainer application 3 from M&M Software reportedly provides a fully functional FDT2 Frame that is backwards compatible with previous versions of the FDT standard, allowing FDT2 DTMs to be freely mixed with earlier versions.
FDT Group says its commitment to interoperability was reinforced by the release of certified Common Components. “The new FDT2 Frame and development suite from M&M Software were built using the FDT2 certified Common Components,” said Glenn Schulz, Managing Director of the FDT Group.
“This is further reinforcement that a common, well-tested code base in the form of Common Components greatly speeds the time to market for quality FDT2 applications. We anticipate several other new FDT2 product announcements in the next few months from other vendors.”
According to FDT Group, “The new specification delivers significantly higher speeds and improved overall performance while providing support for real-time monitoring with background and batch tasks. In addition, it provides enhanced security, rich PLC integration and support of all major factory and process automation networks.”
