Emerson opens flow calibration and service centre in Singapore
Emerson Process Management has announced it is opening an ISO 17025-compliant calibration facility in Singapore to serve customers throughout Southeast Asia. The US$1 million Southeast Asia Flow Calibration and Service Center is reportedly the first in-region, internationally traceable calibration facility.
Situated within the existing Emerson Process Management Southeast Asia Service Center, the facility will provide calibration, repair and analysis services for Emerson’s Micro Motion and Rosemount flow meters. This expands the centre’s capability, which already includes valve and instrument repair and service teams that provide on-site support and training.
According to the company, customers in Southeast Asia had previously faced limited options and high operational hurdles to validate flow device calibrations or provide required third-party documentation associated with ISO 9000 quality or regulatory requirements. Flow meters often had to be shipped overseas for calibration, service or performance diagnostics, resulting in process shutdowns and delays.
Emerson says the local service will mean minimal process downtime and reduce costs, while providing the quality assurance that calibrations are done with an internationally certified standard.
In addition to Emerson’s flow meter calibration, the Southeast Asia Flow Calibration and Service Center will offer a range of services including flow meter diagnostics and evaluations, witness inspection services and documentation to establish the quality of calibration, testing and meter repair.
Future plans for the service centre include obtaining ISO 17025 accreditation and expanding calibration and service capabilities for vortex and magnetic flow meters.
