DroneShield nabs another European military contract
Drones, now commonly known as unmanned aerial systems (UAS), are increasingly being used in military conflicts as shown in the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and are a highly effective asymmetric threat for payload delivery and battlefield surveillance, either as a single UAS threat or in swarms. This has resulted in an increasing need for counter-drone technology such as that developed by Australian counter-drone technology manufacturer DroneShield.
DroneShield has recently announced it has received a contract for AU$49.6 million for handheld counter-drone systems, associated accessories and software updates from a European reseller.
The reseller is contractually required to distribute the products to a European military end-customer.
The company says it has a large portion of this stock on-the-shelf and expects to complete all deliveries in Q1 2026. Over the past three years, DroneShield has received 15 contracts from this reseller totalling over $86.5 million.
