Australian Engineering Week, 4-10 August 2014, has been launched by engineer, entrepreneur and Sydney Engineering Excellence Award winner Matt Barrie, CEO of Freelancer.com.

Barrie delivered the Harricks Address, speaking on the future of business in the digital revolution and how this opportunity can be utilised by the engineering industry. His lecture explained why right now is one of the most exciting times in history to be starting or expanding a business.

Australian Engineering Week highlights the immeasurable impact engineering has on our communities and recognises the contribution its dedicated professionals make to our lives and the world around us every day via a week-long series of events ranging from site tours to seminars, and career talks to trivia.

Steve Finlay, general manager, Engineers Australia Sydney Division, says the Harricks Address is a significant opening to Australian Engineering Week.

“After two years of being nominated in the top 100 most influential engineers by Engineers Australia and recently winning the Sydney Engineering Excellence Award, it was our privilege to ask Matt Barrie to talk at the important Harricks Address,” said Finlay.
