Rockwell Automation has added 'high-bright' touch display modules to its Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus operator interface and VersaView CE industrial computer families. The modules are designed for easier reading in bright locations and are rated to withstand harsh, outdoor environments.

With displays three times brighter than standard touch displays, the high-bright modules are designed for light-intensive outdoor applications such as those found in the water/wastewater, mining and petrochemical industries.

The high-bright touch displays are backlight-rated at 50,000 h, and have a light intensity rating of 1100 NITS, which is considerably brighter than the indoor-rated 300 NITS. Additionally, these human-machine interfaces (HMI) are designed to withstand the harsh effects of ultraviolet light to last just as long as typical indoor installations.

To complement the high-bright displays, Rockwell Automation also offers an optional stainless steel solar visor that fits over the bezel. This helps shade the display when ambient temperatures are extreme - reaching up to 40°C - making it even easier to read outdoors.
