Heat Treatment Australia will soon begin a substantial expansion at its Brisbane headquarters to cater for more furnaces and to install a manufacturing plant.

General Manager, Karen Stanton says the additions are necessary to meet high customer requirements, particularly for sealed quench and vacuum furnace processes.

She expects a new vacuum furnace to be operational early next year to meet customer demand for vacuum brazing, bright annealing and to harden and temper product.

The recent acquisition of competitor Neumann Heat Treating is also enabling the company to augment its existing sealed quench furnaces, which are now operating to capacity. "Two of the modern Neumann furnaces will be moved in about a year's time to our Coopers Plains plant," she said. "This will enable us to update and maintain our high levels of service," she said.

Stanton said Heat Treatment's establishment of its purpose-built furnace manufacturing plant would meet the company's own requirements for several more years. However, it was also intended to export furnaces to international customers, capitalising on the company's skills in this area.
