Emerson wins US$16 million contract to modernise Egyptian power plant

Emerson Process Management has announced that it has won a US$16 million contract to modernise the Ataka Thermal Power Station in the Suez region of Egypt using its PlantWeb digital plant architecture.

Emerson will serve as the main automation contractor for instrumentation and control modernisation of Ataka's two 150 MW units and two 300 MW units that supply power to four million residents. Emerson's responsibilities include design, installation, commissioning and start-up of the new control systems.

The power station is owned and operated by the East Delta Electricity Production Company/Egyptian Electricity Holding Company. The contract is with the US Agency for International Development (USAID), an independent federal government agency that supports long-term, equitable economic growth and advances US foreign policy objectives by supporting economic growth, agriculture and trade, among other strategies.
