B&R gets real lean
Wednesday, 08 January, 2003
B&R Enclosures has opened a new head office and manufacturing facility in Brisbane which, says the company, will allow it to reduce manufacturing time by up to 70 per cent.
The new manufacturing facility, at Heathwood in Brisbane's south, has been opened with the aim of increasing production of B&R's electrical enclosures and data equipment racks and accessories. It will also allow previously mass produced products to be customised, so meeting the requirements of specific customers or projects.
Ken Bridges, Managing Director of B&R Enclosures, said, "How products flow through the factory as they are being built has been carefully planned to ensure optimum efficiency and safety."
The $25 million facility also includes the latest inline bending and punching machine, which automates the process of selecting, bending and cutting steel, for the assembly of enclosures for electrical, data and telecommunication applications.
