SCADA platform

Areal is introducing version 5.0 of its Topkapi SCADA platform. With an SQL interface based on ADO.NET technology, it offers a flexible and effective link with database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server and many others. It saves the historical data of the process and reads any type of data submitted to the operator. It is also able to carry out high-level tasks usually assigned to systems much more cumbersome and complex.

Topkapi relies on SQL and the latest Microsoft ADO.NET technology to handle data. These allow the use of robust and efficient exchange mechanisms within the DBMS. Thousands of events per second can be recorded simultaneously without causing overload or loss of data.

The data may be forwarded into multiple databases via separate routes to distinct systems, or replicated between two or more servers to provide redundancy. Buffers managed by Topkapi can store information locally if the system is not accessible, until the situation returns to normal.

Topkapi can also, through SQL requests, use the data stored in the DBMS, whether it was generated internally or by another application. Users can customise queries to view and use the data into graphs or in the alarms and events windows of Topkapi, and define their own criteria for selecting and sorting.

Mastering SQL is not necessary for implementation in standard conditions; the criteria for selecting and sorting can be adjusted in the standard Topkapi interface.
