Honeywell has released Experion LX, a purpose-built distributed control system (DCS) for small to mid-size operations with continuous and batch process control applications. Designed specifically for smaller plants - less than 5000 I/O points, one engineering server and up to 15 operator stations - that require a control system that is easy to use,  the DCS encompasses technology from the company’s Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS).

The DCS provides users of mid-size process plants with a reliable control system with no single point of failure and a well-designed user interface to help operators and engineers to be more efficient. For end users with batch processes, the batch execution software operates in a redundant controller instead of a computer, eliminating the need for extra hardware and reducing the communication load and time for execution of each batch phase.

The DCS is designed to be delivered through system integrators, which ultimately benefits the company’s customers in fast local configuration and support. With its ability to seamlessly integrate with third-party devices and drives, end users can have the benefit of dealing with a single supplier for all their needs, from field instrumentation to distributed control systems.
