Shock absorbers

Absorbing the energy produced by moving masses, especially at slow speeds, has long been an issue for machine designers. A shock absorber with a design that absorbs energy at slow speeds has been developed by SMC.

With a newly designed integrated oil recirculation mechanism, the Ring series of shock absorbers works effectively for impact speeds from as low as 50 up to 2000 mm/s. Traditional shock absorbers are most efficient from 1000 to 5000 mm/s. The new design allows for an efficient soft stopping motion at lower speeds, which can reduce cycle times resulting in increased output of machines.

These soft stop shock absorbers can be mounted independently to the framework of machines or replace existing shock absorbers in stops mounted directly to air slide tables, rodless cylinders and rotary tables.

A selection of correct soft stop shock absorbers can be matched to the application as two different speed specifications are available for each model size.
