FreeWave cathodic protection remote monitoring radio

Monday, 15 February, 2010 | Supplied by: Control Synergy

Cathodic protection (CP) systems for storage tanks, pipes and other buried infrastructure are often located in remote locations, making them difficult to maintain and operate. Further, these systems are often prone to theft leaving miles of expensive metal unprotected.

Remote monitoring technologies integrated with existing systems solve a very difficult and expensive task of corrosion prevention monitoring thereby extending the useful lifespan of buried pipeline facilities. The FreeWave CP radio has no recurring monthly costs or fees, reducing overall costs.

The FreeWave cathodic protection remote monitoring radio is a multi-purpose, spread spectrum product available in both 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz versions. The radio has specific inputs and outputs for monitoring and reporting operational values on pipelines, tanks, structures and other underground facilities subject to environmental corrosion. The board level product is also available in a pre-assembled LineMarker test station complete with a solar power system, antenna and conduit mounting bracket.

FreeWave CP Remote Monitoring radios are being used to monitor and report all CP rectifier operations, automate rectifier interruption, monitor rectifier operational status and to monitor and report pipe-to-soil potential, pipeline pressure and pipeline pigging operations.
