The Ametek Thermox WDG-V extractive combustion gas analyser has been third-party certified for SIL2 implementation in safety instrumented systems (SIS).

It monitors hot, wet flue gas for excess oxygen. It also allows operators to lower emissions of NOx, CO and CO2 and improve operating efficiency in power generation and petrochemical refining. Reliable detection of excess oxygen and combustibles (CO) in a fired heater or boiler are critical to the effectiveness of burner management systems. The device also monitors for methane for safe burner start-up.

The combustion analyser features an improved aspirator design with larger orifice sizes and improved response times even with flame arresters installed. It also has a low-flow sample alarm that monitors combustion gas flow at the sensors and provides an indication of low sample flow.

Automatic verification of cell and detector response ensures proper accuracy and operation, and cell and detector age tracking allows proactive calibration or service scheduling.

The device mounts directly to the process flange and is heated to maintain all sample wetted components above the acid dewpoint. Its air-operated aspirator draws a sample into the analyser and returns it to the process. Applications include coal- and gas-fired power generation, petrochemical and chemical refining, and pulp and paper.
