Pepperl+Fuchs intrinsically safe FieldConnex components

FieldConnex components for PROFIBUS PA and Foundation Fieldbus H1 that make the high-power trunk intrinsically safe are now available. DART fieldbus power supplies and DART segment protectors are suitable for hazardous area Zone 1. DART power enables long I.S. trunk cables at up to 1000 m and to connect existinhg I.S. fieldbus devices on I.S. spurs up to 120 m long, thus meeting the total segment length of 1900 m.

DART is certified according to IEC 60079-11 for gas group IIC by PTB (German Metrology Institute, Braunschweig). It is claimed to be easy to understand and easy to engineer, requires only minimal documentation and no calculations for validation. Redundancy of DART power supply modules is load-sharing by design to provide higher segment availability. Onboard diagnostics provide extensive help during commissioning, operation and troubleshooting of the physical layer.
