SEW-Eurodrive segmented girth gears

Monday, 29 July, 2013 | Supplied by: SEW-Eurodrive Pty Ltd

SEW-Eurodrive is producing segmented girth gears with a pitch diameter up to 16 m and a width up to 600 mm. Due to the segmented design, by which the gears are made up of multiple identical segments whose number depends on the overall diameter, even larger diameters and widths are possible. The power range reaches up to 2500 kW per pinion.

The use of special ADI cast material means that the company’s girth gears have material properties that provide minimal wear. This enables the company to offer a smaller tooth width, allowing users to save on the overall system.

Girth gears are used to drive grinding mills, kilns and rotary dryers. The solution requires a high level of consulting, which the company can provide to help users find technically and economically optimised solutions for their applications.
