GE DM5E wall thickness gauges

The GE DM5E series is claimed to provide improvement in performance over previous corrosion thickness gauges in terms of thickness measurement and stability and repeatability at normal and elevated temperatures. It is designed for operation in harsh working environments, performing wall thickness measurements on pipes, pressure vessels and storage tanks.

The three versions of the DM5E series - DM5E Basic, DM5E and DM5E DL - offer different levels of functionality. All versions feature a rugged housing and weigh 223 g, including their AA batteries, which allow up to 60 h of operation. The Basic version incorporates a range of features including min/max capture, B-Scan generation, alarms and differential thickness measurement to allow instant comparison between measured and nominal thickness.

The DM5E instrument additionally offers the Dual Multi operating mode, which allows metal thickness to be measured through coatings.

The DM5E DL has the functionality of the DM5E version as well as a built-in data logger. The DL version has the capacity to store up to 50,000 readings in grid and linear files. Measurement data files can be transferred from the instrument to a PC using a mini USB com port, where they can be analysed and stored.
