Available to rent, the Softing Profibus 4 is an all-in-one tester for bus physics and communication. This tool allows full testing of live Profibus segments with minimum influence on their operation. The Profibus Tester 4 is a universal tool for set-up and commissioning, documentation acceptance testing, optimisation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and field device testing.

The unit runs in stand-alone mode but, if preferred, it can be connected to a PC or notebook to allow further standard and expert tests. The tester is said to deliver highly accurate and reliable results, which enhances the ability to locate and detect fieldbus problems, ultimately reducing or avoiding unplanned system downtimes.

The device automatically detects baud rate or open circuit voltage upon connection, and has a master simulator. It can be used to perform topology scans, frame analysis and oscillogram analysis. There is also a trigger input/output, and a Profibus Diagnostics Suite allows display and detailed analysis of test results on a PC.
