Advantech has released the PPC-3100 panel PC, powered by an Intel Atom processor that is designed for human-machine interface (HMI) applications for equipment control in the automation industry.
Compared to its predecessor, the PPC-3100 has faster performance with reduced size for improved space customisation. The PPC-3100 incorporates a number of green concept design features enabling easy development of cost-effective and environmentally friendly solutions with lower energy consumption.
Powered by a low-power Intel Atom processor and chipset to achieve higher computing performance, the PPC-3100 utilises a LED backlight module and power control IC. The PPC-3100 meets EU environmental standards, which dictate that power consumption must be less than 1 W during system standby. The auto-dimming feature for the backlight saves unnecessary power consumption. The light source intensity can be set in the BIOS or with the AP tool based on the user’s application environment.
The PPC-3100 provides both SATA HDD and solid-state storage card - mSATA with an operating system built-in to speed up system boot time. The mSATA can operate in high temperature ranges of 0 to 50°C. The PPC-3100 supports four COM ports, two of which supply their own electric power, meaning additional power is not required with these COM ports. To provide power to appliances, the 9-pin connector is configurable in BIOS for 5 V, 12 V or Ring Indicator (RI) output.
