Interworld Electronics has released the RTC-I116, a rugged 11.6″ Windows tablet designed to streamline factory automation, process control and field instrumentation workflows.

Engineered for demanding industrial environments, the RTC-I116 bridges the gap between field instrumentation and control rooms. Powered by 12th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors with up to 32 GB LPDDR5 memory, it is designed to reliably run data-intensive diagnostics, asset management software and SCADA applications.

For operators moving between indoor processing plants and outdoor facilities, the 1000-nit HD display allows visibility across fluctuating lighting conditions. The G+G capacitive touchscreen is designed to operate reliably with gloves or in wet conditions, and is protected by 7H scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass.

Certified to MIL-STD-810H and rated IP66 for protection against dust and water ingress, the RTC-I116 operates from -20 to 60°C, providing the resilience required around manufacturing plant floors and heavy processing equipment. Unplanned downtime is minimised through dual hot-swappable batteries, allowing continuous shift-to-shift operation without system shutdowns. Robust connectivity — including Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and optional 4G/5G — allows real-time telemetry and instrumentation outputs to remain accessible plant-wide.

The RTC-I116 also addresses the challenge of interfacing with diverse hardware with a range of I/O connectivity options, including dual serial (COM) ports for legacy machinery, an RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port for network diagnostics, and multiple USB connections. Built-in 1D/2D barcode scanning, NFC and UHF RFID options also facilitate rapid asset tracking and component verification.
